On May 13, 2025, Dalian University Holdings, a leading international semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Pinjia has launched a 48V automotive electronic and electrical architecture (EEA) solution based on Infineon TC387 MCU, TLE9140 gate driver IC, 2ED4820-EM, and 2ED2410-EM gate drivers.

In the evolution of low-voltage systems in passenger cars, the 48V system has gradually become a new trend in the development of automotive electronic and electrical architecture (EEA) due to its advantages in reducing harness losses, improving energy efficiency, and meeting high-power load requirements. Especially under the dual promotion of strict emission regulations and electrification trends, the 48V system has received increasing attention and application from car companies. In response to this trend, Dalian University Pinjia has launched a 48V automotive electronic and electrical architecture (EEA) solution based on Infineon TC387 MCU, TLE9140 gate driver IC, 2ED4820-EM, and 2ED2410-EM gate drivers. This scheme distributes high-power loads such as chassis, power amplifier, and thermal management in the 48V system, while also taking into account the actual needs of the 12V to 48V transition stage. It distributes low-power loads such as radar, lighting, wipers, doors and windows in the 12V system, not only achieving efficient load distribution, but also reserving 12V/48V load channels to meet various expansion needs.
Is TC387 Infineon AURIX? A member of the TC3xx series, it integrates multiple 32-bit processor cores, high-speed memory, rich peripherals, and powerful security features to meet the high performance, reliability, and security requirements of modern automotive electronic systems.
TLE9140 is a gate drive IC designed specifically for brushless DC motors (BLDC), which can easily cope with high voltage challenges in the field of automotive motor control and support a wide range of normal operating voltages from 8V to 60V. With excellent system reliability and high-speed switching characteristics, TLE9140 has become an ideal choice for automotive motor control applications. In practical applications, this product can be used in conjunction with common MCUs in the market to easily build 48V brushless DC motor drivers.
2ED4820-EM and 2ED2410-EM are gate drivers designed specifically for high current automotive applications, with powerful gate output capabilities that can drive multiple MOSFETs in parallel to minimize conduction losses. At the same time, these products support back-to-back structures such as common source and common drain, and provide multiple protection mechanisms, including power supply undervoltage/overvoltage detection, gate source undervoltage detection, drain source overvoltage detection, etc. Not only that, the driver can be configured with various diagnostic protection functions such as overcurrent protection and integrated over temperature warning, which is very suitable for automotive EEA applications.
